Continuous Provision
Continuous provision creates a rich, stimulating environment where children can explore, investigate and learn through play at their own pace. At St Helen's we utilise a continuous provision structure through Early Years and into Year One. Carefully planned resources and experiences provide opportunities for children to revisit and build on their learning, develop independence, make choices and follow their own interests. The teachers plan using Development Matters and the National Curriculum to ensure progression in learning and opportunities.
Learning through play supports children’s holistic development, strengthening communication, problem-solving, creativity, physical skills and social and emotional development. It allows children to learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences, while adults can skilfully observe, interact and extend learning through purposeful questioning and support. Together, continuous provision and play create an environment where children are motivated, curious and confident learners.
