Celebrating 150 Years of St Margaret’s Parish
The pupils and staff of St Helen’s Catholic Primary School were truly privileged to be part of a very special celebration as our parish, St Margaret’s, marked its 150th anniversary. In a wonderful gathering of faith and community, Holy Mass was celebrated in the grounds of our very own school, in the company of Bishop Alan. It was a spectacular and deeply memorable occasion for our whole community.
Our pupils were honoured to take part in the celebration by reading the Bidding Prayers, giving thanks for the wonderful parish community that has been built and nurtured over 150 years. Their prayers reflected the strength, love and togetherness that continues to unite our parish and school families.
Music was also at the heart of this special celebration. Our St Helen’s School Choir joined the Parish Choir, sharing the Word of God through beautiful hymns. Some of the hymns had been chosen by our children, while others were selected by Father John and our parishioners, bringing together the voices and traditions of both our school and parish.
St Helen’s feels truly blessed to be part of such a close knit and welcoming Catholic community, working together for the common good and living out our Gospel values through faith, service and love for one another.
The celebration was a beautiful reflection of our shared journey — bringing together old faces, new faces and generations of families, while looking forward to the continued growth and building of our community. We give thanks for the past 150 years of St Margaret’s Parish and feel blessed to be part of its story as we continue to walk together in faith.
