Residential Visits

At St Helen’s, we place great value on residential experiences, including both UK based and international visits, and actively invest in providing these opportunities for our pupils. We believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom, and residential trips play a vital role in supporting children’s academic, personal, and social development.

In Year 4 all children get the opportunity to go to France and meet our partnership school children. In Year 5 we offer 2 residential offers to Holland and Rome and in Year 6 we have Science camp at the start of the year with St Joachim's and a summer residential to Wales.

These experiences encourage pupils to develop independence, resilience, confidence, and responsibility while strengthening friendships and teamwork skills. By stepping outside their usual environment, children are challenged to adapt, problem-solve, and embrace new experiences, helping them to grow in maturity and self-belief. By partnering with a school in France the children get to explore another culture and meet their penpals and by partnering with St Joachim's at the start of Year 6 the children connect with others who may be at their secondary school the following year.

International visits, in particular, broaden pupils’ cultural awareness and understanding of the wider world, fostering curiosity, respect, and global citizenship. Whether through outdoor education, cultural exploration, or collaborative activities, residential visits create memorable and meaningful learning opportunities that enrich the curriculum and contribute significantly to each child’s personal development.
