Pre-school Development

Over the Autumn term (2025) we worked with St Edward's Catholic Primary School in order to support them with the planned opening of their 2-3 year old provision in January 2026. As part of their preparation journey their staff spent time in our pre-school setting and worked with the pre-school teacher to look at planning, assessments, philosophies, policies and furniture orders. The staff observed practice within the pre-school and learning on ShREC (Shared Attention, Responding, Expanding and Conversing) was shared following our involvement in the Early Conversation Project research.

Since St Edward's pre-school opened in January 2026 the team have been supported and resources have been shared in terms of 2 year development reviews and end of year report templates.

We remember setting up our pre-school in September 2013 (the first pre-school setting within Newham). As the first school in Newham to open to 2-3 year olds there were lots of learning curves experienced with setting up high quality provision rather than a watered down nursery approach. We love sharing the pre-school practice and have supported many schools in the starting of their pre-schools.

This year we have also welcomed the headteacher, deputy headteacher, school business manager and Early Years Lead from Buxton Primary School who are considering the viability of opening a pre-school there too.
