It was a very exciting day as we travelled to our new friends, St Joachim’s. We are learning about belonging and we learnt how our schools belong to a Trust, as part of our focus for the Citizenship Focus Weeks.

We’re proud to be part of largest children’s choir concerts in the world, bringing together primary schools from across the UK in a truly electrifying experience. Through these unforgettable events, children discover their voices, grow in confidence, and feel part of something extraordinary – all while inspiring a lifelong love of music and performing alongside 9000 other singers at the 02 London.

The School Choir were invited to perform at the Newham Holocaust Memorial Day. They sang a song with a strong message to fit the theme this year of "Bridging Generations,” highlighting the importance of passing on the testimonies and lessons of the Holocaust to younger generations. It encourages us to engage with the past and take action to ensure that its lessons continue to guide us today.

On Tuesday 11th November, children from our archery club made the short journey to St Joachim’s for our third inter-school archery tournament. Having previously lost one and won one, this match carried extra significance as the decider for who could claim bragging rights as the top archery club.

Friday 26th September was the European Day of Languages. The children celebrated by learning new songs, playing French playground games, practising tongue twisters in French and finding out which languages they spoke at home. In year 3 and 5 they used maps to locate countries in Europe and francophone countries around the world. We are looking forward to celebrating again next year!

Congratulations to our Year 1 and 2 hot potato team who came in 3rd place in one of the first competitions of the year. The children showed great focus and team work to secure their medals. The children spent time training for the event and their dedication paid off!

This half term Key stage 2 prepared an area and planted wildflower seeds in a bid to make St Helen’s a wildlife sanctuary. We would like to thank our partners at Buglife for donating the wildflower seeds and we can’t wait to see what the woodland area looks like next spring.

We have our new student representatives for the new school year. We have new Head Boys and Girls, House Captains, Prefect and a new School Council.

Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 mixed netball team. They competed against 8 other schools from the local area and came in first place winning the final on sudden death free throws. The team showed incredible resilience and determination out on the pitch. Over the course of the tournament they scored 20 goals and only conceded 5! An incredible effort from the children.

Jonathan was nominated to receive the Brentwood Citizenship Award. Jonathan is a truly exceptional student in Year 2. His natural leadership skills shine through in everything he does, and he consistently demonstrates resilience, dedication to learning, and a genuine commitment to encouraging others. Jonathan’s ability to inspire his peers to do the right thing and work collaboratively speaks to his maturity and sense of responsibility at such a young age.
